Vision statement
I believe in
community. When I say
'community' I mean the kind
of community outlined by M. Scott Peck in his books 'The Different Drum' and 'A
World Waiting to be Born'.
The kind of community in which:
* We struggle to deal with inevitable
conflict gracefully
* We try to
transcend our differences and truly celebrate diversity
* We open ourselves to deeper levels of intimacy, inter-dependance and
authenticity
* We try to hold the many tensions and paradoxes that are part and parcel of a
real community
I believe that
it is only by expanding our collective intelligence and ability to
communicate honestly and openly with each other that we have any hope
of solving the global problems that threaten our future.
Part of the horribly damaging
fragmentation of modern times is that many people regard the intimacy
of real community as something that happens at weekend workshops -
when actually it is the business of every person in every town -
everyday.
So my commitment is to try to
do what I can every day to build community where I live - to teach the
methods and maps of authentic communication - and to encourage others
to attend to the roots of community wherever they live.
We can all only learn this path experientially as we go along - my
invitation to you, is to join me on the journey.
